MS 1200S touring - carbon belt cover install?

I will have my hands on a carbon fiber belt cover set in the next day or two that I ordered from OPP Racing (Christmas deal at 15% off all carbon) I love carbon, it's an affliction or addiction, not sure which.

My dealership said the installation was a 2 hr operation that will cost approx. $180.

I replaced the plastic covers with carbon fiber on my 999 a few years back. No big deal with that bike, it was quick and easy. The lower piece on the Multistrada looks relatively straight forward, I'm more concerned with the top two pieces.

What has to come off? Thanks for your help.

It's split into two pieces, I presume to make it possible to remove it without having to separate the engine from the frame, so it shouldn't be too hard... Having said that, it does look like it's tucked away up there behind lots of stuff.

Maybe you could do the lower one yourself then get them to do the upper one on the 24,000km service?

rizoma

The rizoma belt cover I saw is a 3 piece part also.

Some companies only sell the lower piece. Probably because the top two parts are hard to see and even harder to install.

I'll try to install over Christmas holidays. We'll see how it goes.

How did you go with installing the top two pieces of the belt covers?

carbon belt cover

actually it was a three piece set. the bottom two went on very easily and quickly. the top was another story. I had to remove the tank and cut the zip ties to move the brake lines from the abs unit. the lines run along the upper right side of the trellis frame. I cut the ties, moved the lines to the outside and wiggled the old part out and the new cover in.

worked fine. the three pieces were just like the 3 piece oem covers I removed. took awhile but was worth it.
