Anyone using Arai Ducati Diavel-X Helmet

Looks like a street / dual-purpose hybrid ?
Wondering if would work as a street helmet or not? I like the ventilation aspect (live in Texas) and the visibility increase.

It's just an Arai XD-3 with Ducati paint on it. The XD3 is being replaced with the XD4 for 2012, you can get an XD3 for $459 these days at places like Revzilla and others.

Great looking lid!

Apples to oranges but I've got a Shoei and while it's excellent as a D/S helmet, it's loud and drafty on the road. Caveat emptor...

I agree, I also have the shoei DS helmet and I do like it on the street but on cold days it flows just a little too much air.

I got a silver one but I wish I would have gotten a white one - it wasn't available at the time.

My buddy who rides the pikes peak has this helmet:

Is that the same as the diavel helmet with no bill?

Matt, I have a XD3, it's a fine helmet, but in truth, it's not the best choice when riding wide open roads and distances, either behind a MTS12 or BMW GS. I personally would rather wear a dedicated road (quiet) helmet for such purposes.

Cheers,

I compared them last week at the shop and yes the diavel helmet is the same as the multistrada but without the peak, when I ride my hyper I use the multistrada helmet but not when riding the SF as its quite noisy at speed.

I have an Arai XD3 and it is a nice helmet but not the quietest. Mine is at it's quietist with the visor up (which I prefer) - but I have a higher screen fited.

FYI, the XD3 peak is removable and the helmet comes with different side plates to achieve this. I have never tried it this way.

Rockettman, what do you like about the Nexx? I'm considering that one vs. the XD-3. There are great prices now on the XD-3 so it's tempting.
I currently wear an Arai Signet and have a pretty narrow head shape.
