Anyone called the Ducati "Roadside Assistance" number lately?

As one who has taken/will take long trips on the Multistrada (if I keep it), I wondered if anyone has had to call the Ducati "roadside assistance" number?

There were some "horror stories" early on regarding the service; just wondered if anyone's actually tried to use it. Thanks for any information.

I used it (emabarrasigly) for a flat tyre situation a few months ago ....

And it worked surprisingly well.
They took my details, Ducati Assit no. and location etc, (and location of my bike shop), dispatched a truck.
Truck arrived 20 mins later and I helped load it and also scored a ride back to shop with it ! (It's a heavy bike to wheel around with flat front tyre!)

Very happy with that.
I was probably lucky I was in the general metropolitan area, and close to my LBS at the time. (M2 motorway just before the toll booths ...)

Cheers,
Wit C

If Ducati's Road Side Assistance is like BMW's then its just like AAA where they send out a local operator and reimburse them at some given rate.

So the quality would depend on who you get.

not for the multi but for the tard. people on phone were very polite and helpful. got a wrecker right out to me and bike was treated very well. unfortunately the dealership was a joke. but thats another story.

Keep in mind that you have 24 months from date of purchase to use this (Ducati) service, and that you are allowed $200 per disable.

If the service that Ducati calls cannot respond within a reasonable period of time you are free to call another service and Ducati will reimburse you provided you fax or email them the bill within 24 hours of receipt. This is important.

Without going into specifics there are insurance carriers that will tow a legitimate disable at the actual cost. Check to see which service is more beneficial in your case. Ducati allows $200.

All roadside assistance services use local (tow) operators and depending upon weather conditions your wait could be brief or quite lengthy.

Also, you are allowed one tow per disable.

Do not assume that you can have your bike towed twice per breakdown....first to your residence (or wherever) and then later to the Dealer. You get one shot at the tow.

Roadside Assistance ....

Nice if you can get it. In Oz though, spend $8000 or $50,000 you won't get it it simply doesn't exist.

A question though, it is something that goes back to Ducati isn't it?. I mean I see reference to it in the owner's handbook so it's not something DNA have done. It's available in Europe too isn't it?

You get it in Australia too.

I bought a bike just over a week ago and a big point was made about the Roadside Assistance, filling in the forms and keeping the identity numbers handy if needed etc. Ducati mail out a card I can carry in my wallet once the paperwork is processed.

+1 to Dan F's post.

For the most part my experience in calling them mimicks what he describes.

The most useful part that I took from the experience was that the guy on the other end of the phone was willing to use his computer to do internet searches for nearest tire shops etc. I had a flat and could fortunately use the included repair/inflation kit for a temp fix. I just wanted to find a place that was open on Sunday (rare) that could change to a new tire.

At first the guy did tell me that they HAD to tow to an authorized ducati repair shop and the closest was over 400 miles away. The $200 dollar limit would only cover about 50 of those miles for the tow..or something crazy like that. Then the guy started hinting that if I wanted it towed to somewhere else, I could do that. It was kind of confusing at the time but fortunately I didn't need a tow in the end. I was also in BFE so I have no idea how they would have found me in that case anyway.

Satansfist.. Really, well that's interesting. Sorry don't want to hijack the thread. Maybe they are doing it in N.S.W. now. Will enquire.
