Radiator cover for cold weather
As others have mentioned, my '10 MTS1200S is not warming up to normal operating temp in the cool weather (30s-40S F). I maintain that a thermostatically-controlled liquid-cooled engine should warm up no matter what the ambient temp, but Mrs. Greg says no one in their right mind would ride in those temps, so there...
Anyway, today I made up a little cover for the radiator from a piece of stainless steel sheet I had laying around. Nothing fancy, just zip-tied it in place It covers about half of the radiator:
Gonna go for a ride tomorrow in 30-40F temps to try it out. Will report back.

That's odd. I was out yesterday at -2 Celsius (28 F) and the bike ran its normal 66 to 69 degrees Celsius (150 to 156 F). On my bike the thermostat seems to be doing its job just fine.

Not true. As Dr Greg mentioned the bike has a thermostat that should already be blocking coolant flow when the temps are low.
Sent from my HTC EVO using Motorcycle app.

Rad cover...
Mine's been the same way ever since I bought it 7/29/10. It takes the oil forever to warm up and the sight window stays white for at least 20 miles till it gets hot.
