Pikes Peak up Pikes Peak?

A thought occurred to me. Do those guys who won first and third at Pikes Peak switch modes along the course? I’m OK with the toggle switch on my track bike that switches between traction control maps for different parts of the track but the relatively laborious and time-consuming regimen of switching modes on the Multi is not something I’d care to be involved with in a high-intensity situation.

I would guess they are in Sport mode with a DTC level set to maybe 1. Or even off.

But I'm sure you'll get more than a guess in a few minutes.

I talked with the Pikes Peak winning team at Moto GP this year. They're running a tune/map that we don't have and they don't toggle between various tunes. They've been at Moto GP the past 2 years.

I would think they would run DTC/ABS off. I find, even on level 1, semi spirited acceleration on gravel roads will trip the DTC slowing you down substantially. You can't set 0 as an option in any of the modes (I have tried), so I would speculate they just turn it off.

(This is based only on my experience with stock and PR2 tires, so I could be entirely wrong)

Pikes Peak up Pikes Peak...

Greg Tracy has a web site,My Life At Speed, Send him an e-mail and maybe he'll respond. I met him at the Peak this year and he's a really nice guy. It might take a short while for him to respond as he's a busy Hollywood stuntman and he has someone maintain the site. but who knows,he might answer quickly.
