Key Fob
What's the trick to opening the key fob to replace the battery? I'm having a heck of a time and don't want to push it and risk breaking it. Any secrets?

THANKS! Got it open. It was still a bit of a stuggle. Will buy a CR 2032 tomorrow. The bike is 1 year 4 months old. Its a 2010. Took delivery in Aug 2010. I had heard people were having issues with this key fob battery life being quite low. Thanks again!!!!!

The cr2032 packs often come in pairs. I leave the extra one in the packaging under the seat in case it dies on the road. Those batteries have a pretty good shelf life so it's a good bet it will do its job when you need it.

Wish I could put the key on a fob, actually. Some kind of something' so I can hook it to my pants belt loop or something'!

Just had my Active Key apart for battery replacement.
The electronic components for the Active Key are quite small. The electronic components could be removed from the active key and placed in a fob-like container. The container would have to secure the electronics so they would not rattle inside the fob. The fob should not be RF shielding in nature. Could even be waterproofed by vacuum packing.
A blank Ducati key could be cut to open seat/panniers/top-case/fuel-cap with few worries of loosing a dumb key.

A friend of mine has a Kawi Concourse 14 which has a separate key and fob. He HATES it because now there are two things you need to carry vs one.
I agree the big key needs a loop so you can actually attach it to something, but overall the single key/fob design works "most" of the time for me.

Some kind of leather pouch like the ones used to hold pepper spray, but of the Ducati Key FOB size, of course.
