Bomb Proof Spoked Wheels!

My 3rd bent front wheel has forced me to have a set of custom wheels made for my Multi. Woodys Wheels is going to cutom fab a set of hubs and mate them to a set of heavy duty spoked rims. Should be interesting, will keep you all posted.

woodys is five mins from my house

Have thought about this lots. Just don't know how the back would work...huge off set for spokes. Front should be " easy"..

Apparently he is the spoked wheel king! All you do is send him your wheels, he does some R&D and you get 2 sets of wheels in the mail a month or 2 later. I am going black rims with black hubs i think.

The Multi is first. The roads in the Catkills we ride on are beautiful but pot hole riddled. My brother has several BMW GSA's all with his wheels and they are beautiful. I figure the expense is worth it since i will put them on the next Multi i get. I have a feeling i will have him make up 180 size set as well for knobbies. Can you imagine the rooster tail it would make!

The offset is huge on the 1200

The offset on the gs is smaller. I just look at the 1200 multi rear end and its so justified to the non drive side with the disk being in there as well. The hub would have to be huge and the spoke line would be so off.Let alone the swing arm being in the way. Not trying to burst the bubble just don't think the rear can be done.

Vince,
Good luck. Post pics.

ebrew. You have a point but I hope you are wrong. The BM/GS style rim spoked rims allow for tubeless tyres but also give a much wider range of spoke angle than a rim with centreline spokes. May be possible with these rims if you can get them wide enough. I too have suffered from a destroyed front wheel. I wonder just how carbon wheels would handle big hits.

They would handle it fine until the hit was too big then it would splinter and then quickly fail.

I do'nt get it. We have lots of potholes around here...no wheel issues. Do you not see them coming?

I dont think the front would be hard

Just need to design the hub. If you don't have an issue with different style wheels the spoke one will be stronger for sure. You might want to lace up a 19" but that opens a whole other can of worms.
