Frame Sliders (for MTS 1200) - Advice Sought

As a new MTS owner, I am so grateful for all the advice!

I am not at all excited about putting on an ugly frame slider on my MTS....we all could debate that I am sure!

Bottom Line: I would like any advice from those who have installed frame sliders, or who have some knowledge of some options.

After looking at some common known brands I did not like the appearance of any.

For the best value (and frankly what appears to be good quality) T-Rex-Racing out of Dallas, Texas has a set for $59! T-Rex MTS Frame Sliders. At that price, I first was about to pass them up, but then bought a set knowing I could return them. My local mechanic/expert thinks they are just great (from a protection perspective). The length of the puck after install would be 4.25" out from the bike. And, for those that don't like labels, the T-Rex label is actually a decal and easily removed!

Then, I found these bad boys! Ducati Rizoma Engine Guards for Multistrada 1200. Note, Rizoma "Engine Guards" (not frame sliders). They look much more appealing, and they should at nearly $300! But from a casual look, they don't appear to come out enough to protect anything but the engine.

Thoughts?

I installed the altrider bars and sliders.
The sliders came out very far and interfered with leg movement and were also pig ugly. They also looked so long that the leverage the gave would end up bending the frame.

Happy with the bars, but the sliders are in my overflowing bike junk bin.

some experience with rizoma

i took the plung and installed the rizoma units. i also have had two chances to assess their value. i highsided at a track day and the rizoma unit took a lot of the energy off the crash (i wrote it up in a separate 'track day' thread).

i low sided the other day on wet leaves and slightly rashed my tank. no damage to slider.

replacement pads can be purchased and exchanged easily. and they look really kewl.

I installed the T rex sliders on my MTS and feel they will help protect the bike in a fall. The Rizoma do look better but feel function should out weight looks in this department.

I like the way my SpeedyMoto frame sliders look. I've got their front & rear axle sliders too.

If all you're looking for is protection from an accidental fall or a low speed crash then sliders will do ok. The rizoma engine guards are great in case of a simple low side or impact where your case might have regularly cracked causing an oil leak and leaving you stranded. So I would say get the engine guards and when it comes out, a proper race rail/cage... That's the only thing I have seen bikes being from totaled at the track or on the street after some serious lay downs.
