Exclamation mts 1200 resist shutting off after wash!

I've just get my mts 1200 washed and it resist shutting off. I switched off the bike but the display is still on. I disconected it from the battery to reset it but no luck.display is still on. When I first plug the battery cables back display shows number 005.

Any advise?

Serkan:

We may have a language barrier here but I'll give this a very long shot.

Back on September 1 one of out most helpful members here, by the name of The Lumox (AKA casey) said this:

this is TOP SECRET, eyes only stuff OK? i know i can trust you 'cause you were a fellow former mil aviator

1. push/hold left button
2. turn key on, let the instruments "sweep"
3. turn key off
4. release left button

I'm reaching and I assume you might not know what that means as well: but if you can figure any of this out.....try Casey's advice.

maybe there must be some residual current/connection as a result of water getting to a place it shouldnt . if its that simple , time should fix soon enough

sure is strange if you have disconnected the battery

I'll say it's a long shot: the OP has a Multistrada 1200 and the stuff you posted refers to a left button and turning a key. That doesn't sound as if it could possibly pertain to a MTS1200.

that secret procedure only works on the old style monsters with two function buttons and the analog speedo/tach. it resets the "maint" reminder.

Yep, it's still given out occasionally to riders of new-style Monsters who at least have a key to turn, but get confused about the left button.

I had a similar issue with my '10 S. Anytime the bike was wet, the ignition would flip out. Once while riding home on I-75 in the rain, I got the steering lock display. I had several instances where I had to disconnect the battery because the bike wouldn't power down. My dealer determined that there was a relay which had a cracked cover and was full of water. The bike always worked appropriately when it was dry. Recently, I had the low beam head lights fail and the dealer found another relay full of water.
I hope this helps.
