What's best for Cleaning Engine
i want to remove all the bits of oil and exhaust residue from the motor. especially the cooling fins. was thinking that something like Carb - Throttle Body cleaner might do the job nicely. but i am not sure if that might remove any protective coating that is adhered to the motor. can anybody tell me if that cleaner would be safe to use with no risk? or maybe recommend a product that will do the job? thanks in advance. bike is a 2005 M1000s.

I've used Zep cleaner which is like simple green and thought it work good.
My brother left some S100 cleaner in my garage for over a year and I got sick of looking at it so I used it. The stuff is awesome. It took off a lot of the grime easily, you still need to scrub if it is thick. To clean off chain lube I use WD-40. Everywhere else the S100 worked get. I swear it left the head of the bolts more shinny. Its says its safe for all surfaces too.
I used it on my Monster.

I use brake/parts cleaner in an aresol can and a toothbrush. Haven't noticed any ill effect on the paint. I don't use it on the bodywork but the engine and frame are fair game.

I used brake cleaner to quickly rise something off my motor and it took the paint off the case. I'd be very careful which brand you use. Some are ok others are not.
