red glow
2012 evo 1100,360 miles, termi exhaust, ecu, airbox front sprocket all done.Question I have is do all monsters run super lean, after a ride rear header pipe glows red idling before i put it in the garage. Also coughs ,spits and pops through exhaust at cruising speeds with r's at about 4000-4500, down shifting also. They should change name from Monster to f-ing heathin.Never owned a bike with such an attitude. Is this normal?Dont want any dammage pre-maturly to valves or piston scorching due to being so lean, service coming soon at 6oo miles.

Seems like you need some adjustments...
I would like to think that they would have adjusted it before you took ownership...
Someone smarter than me will likely give some advice...

they run super lean from the factory but i would think the termi ecu would take care of some of that. its common for them to pop under deceleration. as far as the glowing pipe. that doesnt sound right to me. i dont ever remember my pipes glowing red but i was having too much fun riding to pay too much attention.

At idle
I don't know if the pipe glows like that while riding cuz I can't see it , I just know if it's idling and I'm off standing there it's glowing , tech said it was ok ecu runs lean at low r's. I know too lean is bad, could burn a valve or burn piston , guess at first device it'll get tuned

Can't speak specifically for the EVO but I cannot imagine they all do this. Once past 4K rpm she should be smooth and sweet, I would guess.
Sounds like something may be amiss.

I have the same setup as you, under no circumstances have I ever seen anything glowing red on my bike. I chain up my bike right after I shut it off, I can clearly see the rear header pipe, no glowing. It does run a lot smoother in the 4000-4500 range after the termi install, it will surge a little around 4000, but not popping and cracking. It only does that when I let off of the throttle quickly. You may check to see if you have the right ecu, Ducati packaged a lot of Termi kits with 696 ecu's, mine included, the dealer caught it during the install though. You can check by seeing what comes on the dash when you turn the key. You are definitely running way to lean if you get a header pipe to glow though....

Yea i checked the temp on the header pipes 1" down from the head the with a fluke infrared and the back cylinder idling was 414 F and the front was 319 F, and then a few minutes later they were about 313 F and 287 F

I wouldn't wait until 600 miles to have it checked. Glowing red mean FIX ME NOW!

I have the same bike (2012 Monster 1100 EVO) and have been complaining about all the same symptoms you have since I got it. Mine is fully stock. I have 1400 miles on it now. Just tonight I noticed both my front and rear pipes glowing red while standing 10 feet away from the bike. I had just started the bike and it hadn't been idling for any longer than 5 minutes! The rear pipe was red all the way from the head and extending back for almost 10".
Perhaps this is a symptom of something wrong? In case you're interested in my other symptoms (of which I just emailed to my dealer minutes ago), here is my message to them. I forgot to mention my pipes glowing bright red all the time.
---------- QUOTED MESSAGE BELOW ----------
This message refers to my 2012 Monster 1100 EVO.
This isn't a rant at all. I'm trying to explain to the best of my
ability what I am experiencing and see if there is any room for
improvement. I have a love-hate relationship with this thing. On the
open road it's great, but get under 50mph or any around town driving
and it's a downright bear to ride. I want to love it, but around town
I almost feel embarrassed riding it thinking people are thinking
"dude, what's wrong with your bike?" It has smoothed out a very
little bit since new (1400 miles on it now), but still seems far from
an optimal state of tune. If I can get to a love/hate ratio of 70/30
I'd be happy, but right now I'm sitting at 50/50.
It seems like there is no middle throttle positions that the bike can
agree with under 45 mph. All the way open, or all the way closed are
the only two states that are predictable.
My main issues are between 2-4k rpm for all speeds under 45mph in 1st,
2nd, or 3rd gear:
- bucking under mild to moderate throttle (like gently accelerating
out of a slow speed corner)
- rough gear transitions and clutch engagements due to the inability
to predict throttle response
- the necessity to ride the clutch at all speeds under 35mph
independent of gear selection
I may have been spoiled on my 500cc carbureted Vulcan. Although no
speed demon, it was pretty quick and very smooth, and tolerated a lot
of throttle modulation at any RPM.
Is this really as good as this thing can get and I just need to deal
with it? I have to believe some amount of re-tuning can smooth this
thing out across the entire band. I'm not looking for any additional
power.
To the best of your knowledge, do any options exist for either
remapping the fueling of the Siemens ECU (on a dyno or otherwise), or
replacing the factory ECU with one that properly addresses fueling
below 4k RPM? I don't necessarily plan to replace the stock exhaust
or intake, but am not adverse to doing so if this is what it will take
to smooth out the power delivery. I'm not worried about the legality
side of any modifications. I see that there is a Termi kit
specifically for the 1100 EVO w/ retuned ECU, but who knows what
adjustments they've made to the maps.. I also see RexXer (in Germany)
claiming they can reflash these ECUs if it is sent to them. Does
Ducpond offer any fuel tuning for this bike in any way shape or form?
I know the Siemens ECU is pretty new, so maybe there are no good
options for tuning yet? Do you know of anyone in the area that has
done anything like what I am suggesting and who wouldn't mind showing
off their bike?
Other suggestions, and please feel free to be honest. I definitely
don't regret the purchase. I just love fine-tuned machines and I
think this one deserves to be!
------------- END QUOTED MESSAGE --------------

Perhaps you should call another dealer and ask some questions ,
Better yet show up at the dealership and talk to the service manager or someone with some experience ,
The way you ask and what you ask will get different answers...
Don't go there at closing time , go when it is convienient for them to spend some time with you and your bike...
Ask How Do I get this bike to run as good as I can, what does it take to get rid of (Then list the problems that you are concerened about)
Maybe wait till after Christmas , but a few phone calls may steer you in the right direction .
Myself if I have Questions I try to "Trap" the owner of the dealership , and say I know you are busy , But I'm in a Jam can you help me out with a couple of minutes of your time.
(This should make them "Feel sorry for you")
Don't say you heard it over the Internet (So it must be true) Just say that you feel something is not set right, or running bad,
They should help you out ,
Go to the dealer or shop that has the best rep around ,
Ask here who is the best dealer in your area and who you should talk to...
(Nobody really cares if you compare to another Brand /Model Ducati is our only real concern )
I don't let my bike idle for more than a couple of minutes Just start off easy for a few minutes after a couple mins of warm up...
Good Luck, it SHOULD run Perfect...
