S4RS Tricolore or Not....
I'm converting my 848 into a track only bike, dictated by the insurance company's settlement to my major low side at Willow Springs a couple weeks ago.
So I'm now in the market for an S4RS for street use- commuting a couple times a week at 50 mi round trip, some longer trips like San Diego to SF, etc. I am sure that the S4RS is the bike that I want. I test rode an '07 this past weekend and it's exactly what I had in mind. However I've been lucky enough to come across a Tricolore or sale! I absolutely love the bike (of course), but would really feel horrible taking it on longer trips, to work, parked by the beach, etc.. What are thoughts on this? The cost is about the same between the '07 red one and this Tricolore, however the latter has 8k miles on it already. So cost is not an issue, I guess just the respect for the magical mojo of the Tricolore is all to consider. And I'm assuming I would be harassed if I ever took it to the track.

Isabella loves trips (I think she likes the attention) and she loves the track, too.
And no, you can't have her!
Oh, and she has 25,000 trouble-free kms on her.

Isabella's a hottie! Do you have bar risers on? I felt really comfortable on the one I rode, though it was for only a couple miles around W Hollywood on a Sat evening :/

I went from an 848 to a S4Rs. The S4Rs is a great bike but if you havent ridden a Streetfighter you should give it a try. The looks are totally different but I would say the SF is a better bike all around, specially now that is coming with raised bars for 2012. If I were you I would give it a test ride. maybe the 848 streetfighter. Still I wouldnt sell my tricolore because it looks so amazing. good luck

Yeah, she thinks so too.
I have also installed black Rizoma bars which look quite nice. And yes, I have 2" Speedy Moto bar risers installed, but then, I have fairly short arms.
I love the bike and will take her anywhere. Only thing I won't do is park her outside a motel at night!

I recently rode an S4RS and it was one hell of a ride! I think all available colors look great on it as well. Unfortunately it's "too much" for the slab/boring roads in my area...

I agree that the SF is a better bike and is ultimately what I'm after, however I just can't stand the way the darn things look! I'll give it a test spin soon to see if that sways me. I've looked through these forums extensively and even with some aftermarket mods I still can't get excited about them.

I have an s4rs and I love it for city riding. I don't agree with saying the streetfighter is a better bike. They are completely different bikes, and the monster being much easier on the back. My friend has the tricolor, and I would buy it if the deal was right

Thanks for the heads up Pachuco.. I was wondering mostly how the SF riding position compares to the S4RS. I plan on keeping a designated track bike so just need something more comfortable to get to work and around on the weekends, don't see the SF doing that. I'm done with canyon riding.
lax01- I live down in San Diego. Was up in LA for an exam at UCLA, go there part time for my MS.
