The two operations are separate. Valve adjustment is independent. Cam timing is a straightforward but lengthy process, and costs will vary quite a lot depending upon who does it and whether much needs to be done. Ducati build motors on a production line, and as far as I can tell, all production bikes get the same timing. On newer bikes, (Testastretta) they have gone to a tooling approach that takes a major chunk of the tolerance stack-up out of the build process and should result in fairly consistent timing. On the older bikes it was basically whatever the build process tolerances came up with, and relied upon keyways and woodruf keys. To adjust timing on either system requires several measurements to be made, followed by adjustment and re-measurement. Takes time, so costs will depend upon your shop rate.
