What should I look for on a used 2001 monster 750

Hi,

I am looking to buy a used 2001 Ducati Monster 750. Besides a compression test and last belt and valve service, what should I look for for problems. I am willing and able to fix most things, but I want to know what kind of problems to look for related to this Bike and year so I do not overpay.

All advice and help is appreciated. This may be my first monster, although I have a Honda Shadow 750 (dislike it), Husqavarna 500XC (dirt), and a 1971 Yamaha 650 street bike (like it better than the shadow).

The bike is a used 2001 Ducati Monster 750, Black and silver, 21661 miles. Tires are good, has battery charger, extra seat and misc other accessories. Always garaged and well maintained, some damage to one side of handlebar. Overall in very good condition.

I had a 2000 M750 that I bought from a salvage auction. The air cooled bikes are very reliable and easy to work on, but they are also pretty common and cheap. If you see anything that makes you question the bike, walk away or low ball them. You won't have a hard time finding another one for sale.

Parts are easy to get used, so light damage is not a issue, but if it looks like there was heavier damage (forks or wheels) then I would pass.

It has been a while since I had my bike, but I remember that there were some electrical issues that happened to ducati's of that era. Mine didn't have any, but I had read stories.
