apparently I can't have my cake and eat it, too
The previous owner of my '08 S2r 1000 had an aluminum clutch basket installed (don't know why) along with an open clutch cover. The result is an almost complete lack of clutch rattle.
I like a little clutch rattle.
Apparently he did too because he took out one clutch friction plate and put the extra steel plate on the engine side of the clutch pack to act as a shim. The result of having that extra space in the clutch basket is a very pleasant, toned down version of the standard Ducati clutch rattle. It's kinda' the opposite of the standard "quiet clutch mod". I like it.
Unfortunately, this makes the clutch slip under hard acceleration.
Darn.
I don't know if heavier springs would stop the slipping and I really don't want the harder clutch pull anyhow.
But I don't want my bike sounding like it was made in Japan, either.
Any ideas?
