What to expect from a 2005 s2r 800?

I'm looking to buy my first Ducati and found a local (former) Ducati dealer that took a 2005 monster s2r 800 in on trade. It has 17k and has had two prior owners. The second owner bought it with 8k. He did trade it in for another Ducati so that leads me to believe he is brand loyal and most likely kept up on the service, at least that's what I hope.
I'm not mechanically inclined so I leave the service to the professionals. I was wondering what questions I should be asking about this bike or what to look for.
Am I making a mistake buying this bike if there are no service records? Also what should I expect will need to be done in the near future if I did buy it?

Buy it. Ride it. Mod it. Make it your own. My wife has an 05 S2R800 and loves it. The 2 valve motors are freak in awesome.

Not being mechanically inclined is not the end of the world but the fact that no service history is kinda a bummer. The 15k service should have been done but you never know. Problem is that used to be the "big" one. Belts, valves, blah blah blah...If that was done then the next one is just an oil change at 18,000miles.
