Mystery of the Missing Oil

Ive posted this question in the oil/lube section, but not getting any answers and hoping someone here could come up with a better answer.

I did my first oil change on my 2012 Monster 796. Drained the fluid and let drain for 1/2 hour, new oil filter installed and refilled with only 2 quarts going in. Owners manual says 3.91 quarts, which tells me that approx 2 quarts of old oil has not drained. Bike was on a race stand during the oil change. Did not touch filter screen.

If the crankcase takes 3.91 quarts, then approx 50% of the old dirty and worn out oil is mixing in with the new stuff....NOT GOOD!

Is the owners manual wrong? Is approx 2 quarts stuck somewhere, maybe in the oil cooler? Is there a trick to get the oil to fully drain???

Mystery solved! Did another oil change, this time without the race stand. Managed to put in 3.2 quarts of oil.

So the race stand elevated the engine to the point it wasn't draining all the oil?
