14T Sprocket for Monster 1100 EVO
Hi,
I want to change the front sprocket of my M1100 Evo to 14T.
I was searching the web and DP 2011 accessories catalogue and couldn't find the M1100 EVO listed on any of them.
Perhaps the catalogue was published before the M1100 EVO was launched so maybe it could be the same sprocket as the M796/1100/1100S although it is not in the list.
Can anyone advise,
David

I'm not an expert on the subject, but when I asked the dealer fro a sprocket they asked for the pitch which was 525 and how many teeth I needed, that was pretty much it. I browsed afam's catalog and they have the same part number listed for the 696/796/1100 as well as the hypermotards and super bikes. It seems like they may all use the same 525 pitch sprocket. I seem to remember them saying the sprocket I got was the ones the use for the superbikes. You should be ok with the same sprocket as the other monsters, but once again I'm not an expert. Give pro italia a call, they are great and I'm sure they would love to sell you a sprocket. I got an AFAM one and it was less than $50 bucks.

changing sprockets
This bike has traction control and I'm sure Ducati do not advise messing around with the gearing...

The traction control uses the tone rings and the wheel speed sensors at the wheels, it shouldn't have any effect on the traction control or abs. Changing the diameter of the tire would cause problems with traction control, but gearing shouldn't. I've ran the 14t sprocket for over 1000 miles now, zero issues with abs or traction control. I've actually seen two Ducati letters floating around in regards to abs and 14t sprockets. The first said it was not okay, the second corrected it and said it was. If the abs is not affected then traction control should not be affected as well as they use the same sensing system. Hope that helps.

So if you were to put a 14/41 setup, Im assuming the speedo would still read correct and no effect on traction control or abs???

Assuming the post above yours is correct (and I believe it is), that would be correct.

I think the road speed sensors on our bikes are on the wheels, gearing changes should not affect the speedo.

To get a definitive answer, I called 4 different ducati dealers, and all said the exact same thing, changing sprockets will not affect the ABS/TC/speedo. The monster uses the tone rings, so changes in sprockets size will have no affect.
The gearing is insanely tall on the monster, and since I rarely venture past 120 mph, Im going to switch to a 14/41 setup. According to Gearingcommander.com, I should be able to still do 122 mph @ 8250 rpm. My current gearing of 14/39 lets me cruise at 77 mph in 5th gear, any slower and the bike vibrates with no power to accelerate. So, im hoping the 41 rear will allow me to utilize the 6th gear and improve more in city driving!

Changed mine to a 14t last week and have been on two rides since. I like 1st gear a lot better now, no need to slip the clutch taking off. The areas I ride , I would like a little taller 2nd gear. I'm up at about 6k and if I go to 3rd it's a little tall!
I was thinking if I go and change the rear sprocket, put a quick change ontheir I may be able to fine tune it more?
