s2r 1000 exhaust question

I already have a "nice" bike. A gorgeous '07 Triumph Sprint ST1050.

Today I'm picking up my "fun" bike. A 2006 S2r1000. I can't wait to park it next to the Sprint to see which one is the brightest red!

Anyhow, I'm wondering how this whole ECU reflash thing works when you make exhaust changes. I plan to install Ferracci high mount mufflers and wrap the headers (just because I like the look. BTW, I've checked out that myth about wrap damaging pipes - doesn't happen). The wrap manufacturer recommends an ECU reflash because, they claim, the flow will be that much better. OK, whatever. The local, highly reputable, Duc dealer (Ducati of Seattle) does dyno tuning. So, does that mean that they are able to adjust the stock ECU to whatever set-up may be on the bike?

I'm also curious if I should remove the cat like with the Spark pipes. Is the cat really all that restrictive? And does it cut a lot of noise?

BTW, I'm not really doing this for extra performance. I just want that really deep bass "tom-tom" sound at idle.

If you keep the cat and just use slip ons there will be little need for retuning. I'd suggest a Fatduc O2 manipulator for about $80.

But yea, if you wrap the headers you'll probably have to have the "Race" ecu.
