Monster 1100 evo pre-purchase question
Hi,
I think I will buy this bike soon and I have some questions for those who have already this bike.
1- Is the windscreen and the seat cowl included, from the website, it's not clear but I think that yes.
2- Do you know if the passenger handles fit with the seat cowl in place. If so, Is someone have a picture of it, maybe it's not very esthetic.
3- What is the best steering damper for this bike and what do you think of TITAX steering damper.
4- Is someone already have the oil screen filter removed and cleaned, from what I had read, it seem that you have to remove the entire exhaust system to do the job and that seem a ridiculous job for a so simple think to do. How often do we have do clean that screen filter. In my opinion and with the simplicity of this job on a 696, I think that it sould be done every oil change.
5- What is the best short tail kit in your opinion?
6- Can you tell me if there is some problem with the pipe position for the boots of the rider and the passenger?
Thanks
Kafou

I have a 796 but can answer a few questions,
1- Is the windscreen and the seat cowl included, from the website, it's not clear but I think that yes. YES
2- Do you know if the passenger handles fit with the seat cowl in place. If so, Is someone have a picture of it, maybe it's not very esthetic.
YES, posted by Uuu here Monster passenger grab bars - Ducati Monster Forums: Ducati Monster Motorcycle Forum
3- What is the best steering damper for this bike and what do you think of TITAX steering damper.
Dunno, never had the need for one.
4- Is someone already have the oil screen filter removed and cleaned, from what I had read, it seem that you have to remove the entire exhaust system to do the job and that seem a ridiculous job for a so simple think to do. Looks like the exhaust needs to come off to service the screen. Manual says first service is at 22.5K miles or 3 years.
5- What is the best short tail kit in your opinion?
Ducati short tail kit, has LED light with Ducati stamped on top.
6- Can you tell me if there is some problem with the pipe position for the boots of the rider and the passenger? Dunno

Thanks for your answers, I read it about the screen to be cleaned after 3 years, but in my opinion and after I had seen some video of the first oil change of a 696, it seem to be a good idea to clean this filter at the first oil change.

I can answer Number 6: the pipes haven't caused any problems at all for the rider or passenger on my bike (1100 EVO).
Cheers

found this video on youtube with the passenger handles. I think it looks nice and stealthy. Plus makes it easier to move the bike around or holding bike up to put on rear stand!

I think the EvoTech is the best short tail kit. It is very easy to instal and it is all metal. No plastic at all.
Sorry don't have a steering damper.

I asked my dealer at the 600 mile service about checking the screen and they said it wasn't required. The drain plug is magnetic and the filter should catch the rest. But yeah you'd have to pull the exhaust which actually "looks" pretty easy with the sleeve joints on it.
Don't have a need for a steering dampner, so dunno.
Haven't done it yet but I'd def do a front sprocket swap before a dampner.

I like the Ducati Performance fender eliminator kit, with a little cutting and drilling of the euro plate holder, it looks factory, but shorter. I saw a rizoma kit, it looked nice and it was made of metal, but man was it heavy. The DP kit was even lighter than the original fender. I would like to second the motion for a 14 tooth sprocket, the gearing seemed tall and the bike just didn't seem right on the freeway before I added it. You couldn't even get into 6th gear without doing speeds that get you arrested, now 6th gear is like 5th, it cruises down the freeway nicely, and accelerates quicker. Just my 2 cents. I've never ridden a bike with a steering damper, but I can't see why the monster needs one.

Any problems with dtc or abs with the sprocket swap? Wouldn't think there would be, but read some other threads where that was a concern. Did you do the swap or did you have dealership do it? And if so bout how much did it run?
