Auxiliary fuel, storage pilon seat

I want to buy a Ducati. I am looking mostly at the MTS1200s, but also the older superbikes. Several people have advised me to look at the monster, and they are great bikes, except:

1) Fuel tank range is a complete deal killer. Has anyone had success adding Auxiliary fuel to a monster? Any ideas if this is practical?

2) Pilon seat. My girlfriend is not comfortable on the small Jap cruiser I have now, which is one reason to upgrade. You can ride 2-up on a monster, but this would be less comfortable. Any suggestions?

3) My bike is my main vehicle, and I may do some touring if I get time. The total lack of storage is a deal killer. I can rig up pilons and/or a top case, but would appreciate suggestions.

My wife much prefers the MTS1200 seating position to my M696.
