Where in NorCal? I like that the new 796's also have a single-sided swingarm. Congrats!

Nice! Seems to be more and more people from the Sacramento area popping up lately with monsters. I'm up in te Roseville area, and romancommander is as well. We need to get a group ride going for monster owners.
Oh, and yes, that looks like the battery strap. Did you buy from goodtimes or a&s?
Goodtimes isn't known for their service dept... A&s should cover your warranty and they have an excellent parts/service dept. But, goodtimes has been good when I have been in there.
If you want to install the battery strap, it's pretty easy, just takes about 30 min. If not, take your bike in, they should install for free! I would be mad if I got a brand new bike with missing bits and pieces

Tool kit strap has a long oval shaped hook at one end and a square piece of plastic/rubber at the other. This strap is way to long
This is the battery strap. The end with hole goes on battery tray

I paid close to MSRP, majority of dealers are not budging on price. the 796 is very rare and from what ive seen here in Northern Cali, the bike are gone within a week or two at the most.
early 2011 had the Showa fork and optional ABS. Late 2011 and 2012 have Marzocchi forks and standard ABS for US market. No other changes that i know of.

Picked her up at Goodtimes yesterday. Roseville, Concord, Santa cruz, San Rafael, San Fran and sunnyvale have ZERO 796s. Concord got some in less than a week ago, but both were sold within 3 days. same with Hattar in San Rafael. I gave A&S every opportunity to get me one, but I was told they were not getting any anytime soon.
Im not too worried about the battery strap, it will get installed once my battery tender cable comes in the mail so I can do both at the same time.
Took her out for a short ride near Lake Berryessa:
