Running Termis without the ECU and filter???
I know this has been covered, and I might have even read the answer already, but after searching I'm still not quite 100% about this.
I have a 2011 M696. If I buy the Termi kit and install JUST the slip-ons, will the bike run normally? I'll eventually get the ECU and filter in there but not right away. I asked Termi but they deflected me to Ducati and Ducati has yet to respond.

Therein lies the trouble. I've read no, I've read yes. I've read guarantees on both sides.
If "no," why not? How does the bike respond to mere slip-ons?

I ran the slip ons for while and bike ran OK not great just OK, you will not hurt the bike at all with just the slip ons. But do your self a favor and get your ecu re-flashed $250.00 I recomend the Rexxer re flash and you 696 will run great. Or spend a lot more on the DP ecu either way will work.

Perfectly fine to run the cans without the Ecu/filter...
There are dozens of aftermarket slip-on setups, that are almost identical to the termi slipons as far as performance/design, and they work perfectly fine...

I have the Termis on my 696 with the stock air filter and ECU. The bike runs fine. Frankly, I find it runs better than with the stock cans. It's smoother and revs more freely.

I've heard that from several people now, which is why an answer like "no" doesn't cut it.
What I don't understand is why it works fine for some (or even better in your case) and not for others.

If you only go to slip on mufflers with street legal "quiet" baffles, the difference to engine tuning will be small. But if your bike already suffers the typical lean fueling problems at low speeds and you are the type that is sensitive to it, less restrictive mufflers will only make it worse.

Thank you. That answers my question and solves a couple of different puzzles I'd been working on. It's strange that I couldn't deduce this on my own after reading an informative response such as, "no."
My bike isn't running lean by any means, and I fully intend to use the db killers, so I should have a chance at normalcy. If not, as I said, the slip-ons can wait until the whole enchilada is able to be installed.

No matter what you do, get your ECU reflashed by Moto Lab! I had them give me a reflash for a free-flow air filter with slips-on (even though I currently have neither) and had the O2 sensors removed. The bike runs SO much better. Much smoother and more powerful down low. It's the best $250 you can spend.
