M1100 fueling doesn't feel right with Termis

Hi all.

I have a 2010 M1100 with Termis slip on kit with ECU. However when I ride, I do get a significant amount of popping and backfire when I release the throttle.

And when I'm stationary and twist the throttle fast to test, sometimes the engine doesn't respond quick enough to my hand action. I brought it once to the dealer and they got it reset but the problems still remain. I only pump RON98 gas.

Stock exhaust had no such problems but obviously I'm not heading back to that route.

Do I need PC5?

Interested to hear what others say as I've really noticed the same symptoms on my EVO. I love the new sound of the Termis, love the slight change in performance under throttle, but it definitely seems to run a bit more lean than stock. I thought that was the whole point of the new ECU?

But I'm certainly no mechanic so maybe it's all by design?

I have an 09 with the same setup, termis and ecu, and I have the same backfire issue on occassion. But not the issue with throttling. I am assuming the RON98 is octane level of gas. And am not sure what PC5 is.

same issues on my non evo 1100s. over 10k with termis. thats just the way it is, sorry! keep the revs up and you'll be fine. your buddies will be jealous of the blue flames that will shoot out at night about 6 inches out the exhaust.

sorry, i don't think that's "the way it is". your bike is not running properly and needs to go back to the shop, or a competent tuner.

fuel is supposed to burn in the combustion chamber, not in the pipe (or out the end of the pipe)

i've had two Ducatis with the termi kit (exhaust+ecu) and both have worked perfectly. those kits are expensive and your shop should make it work, try another ecu, or refund your money. the kits have a warranty if installed by the dealer.

you should not need a PC5 with a properly working DP ecu.

The DP ecu mapping is not very good. I had my stock ecu reflashed by Mota-Lab and the difference is night and day. Plus no more o2 sensors or exhaust servo valve.

Buy the rexxer re-flash unit with a map to your exhaust/intake setup, or send your ECU to get reflashed by moto-lab.

Maybe try resetting the TPS

Your Monster has a Seimens ECU. It reset's the TPS automatically.

Will the mota-lab reflash produce improved results even if i have the DP ECU and termis already?
