false nuetral

ive had my monster 696 for 5 days now and ive hit a false nuetral between fifth and sixth several times already i think it also caused the bike to not let me downshift when I came up to a stop

I plan on taking it to the dealership tomarrow but wanted to see if anyone else had this issue before

never had a false N on two monters, but i did sometimes get a N between 5th-6th on my multi for the first couple of oil changes. it's all good now. fairly common with these bikes if you look around the different forums.

i would suggest you "exercise" the tranny whenever possible and do a bunch of 5/6/5/6/5/6/5/6/5 shifts. there could be a burr, or machining imperfection on a part in there that will smooth out over time and a few oil changes.

hope you're liking the new bike!!

I've had this happen maybe twice in the 1,000 miles I've put on my 1100 EVO. I just attributed it to lazy shifting on my part and the fact that I can barely even get into 6th unless I'm going at least 80mph.

If your bike isn't clicking down as you're coming up to a stop, let the clutch out and pull it back in and it should go down through the gears easily from there. If you're at a stop and can't find first, let the clutch out a little until it starts to grab and pull it back in and then click it down again.

yeah I love the bike still wish it had the single swingarm but it is still sweet either way

the false N doesnt bother me most of the time i can get it in gear without any problems I just dont want to be running 80 and it happen and I sheer the gear and crash as a result that wouldnt be cool

yeah I found out you can release the clutch just a bit to find first setting at a stop in rush hour after I killed it trying to mke it go in second lol
I just have a bad habbit of coasting to the stop without shifting gears Ill just have to break myself of that habbit
