Monster 1100 evo negotiation...

What did you pay for your M1100evo out the door? I was quoted 13800, does that seem like too much?

MSRP is $11995, and cars nowaday have less then 10% from msrp to invoice. It's all about supply and demand with the dealer and how long they'll sit on bikes before they want to move them. Your sales tax is 7-8%? plus lic, registration. The factory does pay them to assemble it, but most that freight/setup is profit. A good deal to one person may not be a good deal to another. If everyone grinded each purchase, the economy would "grind" to a stop! We all want a fair deal and the dealer needs to make a fair profit

That's about what I paid. I bought the second one my dealer took delivery of and had to put a deposit down to secure it. They have been preselling them as they take delivery it seems...at least that's the case with my dealer. I stop in there from time to time and haven't seen another one yet.

As an ex-ducati salesman, my advice to you is this: If the price seems too high, don't buy it. If the price seems fair, buy it. It's a pretty simple affair.

Im not trying to cheat the dealer or anything but ive bought all my stuff there and a bike and paid all the fees before. I dont think its a bad price, just not what I was expecting after being a repeat customer.

I paid 12,435 USD in South Carolina (out the door price). There was no negotiation. My local dealership got two EVOs which were gone within a week. They ordered two more, for which one I placed a down payment and waited semi-patiently.

They had 5 or so older models for which I could probably have struck a good bargain, but I really wanted the traction control and ABS (which has already saved me from a certain crash).

Don't want to get too far off topic, but I was coming up a two-lane off ramp in the left lane (to turn left at the top). There was a parking lot adjacent to the ramp on the right. A huge red SUV pulls out of the lot onto the ramp, and I initially assumed that she was going to get into the right lane. But, no, she comes across right in front of me, and I have a 3 foot high cement barrier to my left.

I hit both breaks as hard as I could (they were both clicking loudly), but came to a very fast and low drama stop about 4 feet from the back of the SUV.

What really made me mad is that I wanted to beep at her to let her know that I was there and she'd almost killed me, but instead of hitting the horn I kept hitting the ignition button.
