Swap Out The Shock!!

Ok...I'm still bored at work so I figured I would put up my 999 shock swap on my S2R1K. Really simple kiddies. First find yourself a used (or new) 999 Showa. I found mine on Ebay for $75.00, then had a friend at the local shop rebuild it and re-spring it for my girth. All told outta pocket for about $150.00 bucks I think. Not to bad.

Next gets ya some metal. I used 3/16th ally (I think). This will be used for the relocation of your reg/rectif and coil. Sorry kids they gotta go some place.

Step 1: All this crap has gotta go!

Awwwwwww...Nice and empty!

Now, after measuring your frame, cut yer metal plate.

Here is how it looks with the reg/rectif mounted.

Next ya gots ta cut a wee little notch for the coil

Coil all mounted up

By the way, did I mention you need to cut the coil bracket off the frame. Sorry kiddies. BIKE MODS ARE NOT FOR THE WEAK!!!!!!!!!! The problem is that once you mount a shock that actually has adjustment, the reservoir will hit the coil bracket and not fit.

cont.

Some bending. Some cussing. Some grinding and...

A little bit of sanding. A little bit of Krylon and bingo!! Unless you run without your pods, you will never see this.

Here be the freshly rebuilt shocky shock shock

And here it is all mounted up!

I didn't get into removing and installing the shock because it is a little bit straight forward. Also I probably didn't do the most technically correct way!!!

So after adjusting the ass end, I have found that sayings like "HOLY FUCKING SHIT!!!!" come shooting out of my mouth. It holds a line so sweet nice! Only problem is that I can really tell how shitty the front end is. Racetech here I come!!!!!
