Swap Out The Shock!!
Ok...I'm still bored at work so I figured I would put up my 999 shock swap on my S2R1K. Really simple kiddies. First find yourself a used (or new) 999 Showa. I found mine on Ebay for $75.00, then had a friend at the local shop rebuild it and re-spring it for my girth. All told outta pocket for about $150.00 bucks I think. Not to bad.
Next gets ya some metal. I used 3/16th ally (I think). This will be used for the relocation of your reg/rectif and coil. Sorry kids they gotta go some place.
Step 1: All this crap has gotta go!
Awwwwwww...Nice and empty!
Now, after measuring your frame, cut yer metal plate.
Here is how it looks with the reg/rectif mounted.
Next ya gots ta cut a wee little notch for the coil
Coil all mounted up
By the way, did I mention you need to cut the coil bracket off the frame. Sorry kiddies. BIKE MODS ARE NOT FOR THE WEAK!!!!!!!!!! The problem is that once you mount a shock that actually has adjustment, the reservoir will hit the coil bracket and not fit.
