Cut Up Them Termis Bitches!!!

I am sure this has been done here before but I am bored and feel like typing so get over it. After I did the tailchop on my S2R1k, the Termis just looked dumb. They stuck out too far past the ass of the bike. This how I took care of it!

Before:

First thing ya gots ta do is measure measure measure. I chose to remove 7" off the pipes. Measure again. Then put tape on either side of your marks. Helps guide and stuff when ya cut yer overpriced carbon fiber goodness!

Then...um...take em off the bike:

...and measure again

Now my method is to cut the cans then remove the rivets. The thought was leaving the end cap on would make the tube more rigid and thus a little less likely to crush when cutting.

This is what ya get inside!

I just used a box knife to cut through the packing and the nifty little wire screen thing under it. A Dremel was used to cut the tube after that. Fight the end cap back on and this is what you get.

And all done!

It looks better. It sounds better. The end.

Just seat of the pants but it actually seemed more peppy. Could just be the the louderness of it.

That looks really nice. It really does improve the looks of the Termis. It even helps with the other visually disturbing aspect of the upper can extending past the lower can.

Great job and writeup. I was wondering what would cleanly cut that CF, and now I know.

Yup, Dremel is your friend. I bought some of the thin cutting wheels and it cut right through like butter.
