Back in the Rimini saddle

New DB4 owner checking-in.
Just got a 2000 DB4 from the original owner. Gorgeous bike with 1100mls - just needs the usual fluids/belts changing after spending 4 or 5 years in a living-room....

I was lucky enough to own a 1997 DB3 Mantra for 2 years - another fine capable bike, although severely under-rated.
The current owner calls it the "heart of a Ducati, soul of a Edsel" styling.... love 'it or hate it looks, and I did both - usually at the same time !

One thing about owning 'older' Bimotas: you have no illusions about warrantee / Factory support. We know we're on our own.....

From the Living Room to the Street

The short story: 2000 model, sold in 2006. Used for probably 6 months and 1300mls, then stored in a living room in FL. Probably Air-conditioned.....
I'm putting it back on the road where it belongs.

So far I've done (or am planning):
- Oil and filter change. Previous owner had a done a few of these, but I wanted a new baseline
- new Air and Fuel filters
- drained all the gas, and the float bowls.
- flushed the brakes and clutch. I've never seen black brake fluid before....
- new cam belts. Originals still in there probably.
- new tires. Originals from Pirelli Breuberg Germany plant. Dated 187 (front) 257 (rear). Thats 1997 - definitely time for a change...
Incidentally, there's a neat 'DOT code' lookup at:
All the D.O.T. Tire Plant Codes
And this bike must have been shipped from the factory with 2 or 3 year-old tires.....

So, what am I missing ?? Anything else I should look at before taking it out ??

Tire recommendation wanted

Going to toss these 13 year old tires as far away as possible.
I'm looking for recommendations for replacements.
Basically, for a not especially aggressive rider, in Harley-Country Florida (the land of straight flat roads).
Mileage not especially important - these tires will probably die of old-age first.
However, good grip from cold is important - I doubt I'll heat them up to proper temperature much.

tHESE BT-16's are worth every penny sticky center compound harder for your flat florida roads softer on sides for grip for your on ramp curves
go to motorcycle superstore for good price order them fast shipping
dont need any other tires your not racing that bike in any GP THESE TIRES
WILL OUT PERFORM YOUR RIDING ABILITIES AND GIVE GOOD LIFE FOR THE BEST

That is a great find, I have always wanted to buy a Bimota but have never ran across a great deal.

Can't wait to see some pics.
