YB8 setup info

My Furano is being dragged into my motorcycle riding rotation again...which is always a good thing.

These YB8's have an adjustable link/rocker arm rear suspension. Anyone know the suggested starting point(s)?

Thanks for any (good!) advice.

Bruce

I think I called you about 15 years ago about that bike. Pretty sure anyway. I wanted to add it to my collection. What do you want to know about the suspension? Ohlins shock and greased pivot points are about the only things to do. The ride height can be changed to sharpen the steering with no loss in stability. The stock spring rate was a little stiff. The beautiful wheels should be changed with much lighter wheels as well. The wheels alone will make a huge difference. Think I still have a bunch of different offsets for the steering laying around somewhere too. The bearings in the bottom of the steering stem go bad alot. the YB8/10 series is the best Bimota ever built.

Thanks for the info Joe!

AFAIK there are only 3 Furanos in the US. I brought mine in from Italy about 13 yrs ago, and it's never been for sale, so don't think you've spoken with me about this bike.

There was one in NorCal for sale, but he sold it to a guy in the Boston area about 10 years ago, and I lost track of it.

The 3rd one that I know of was imported by an LA outfit, GP Star, about 3 years ago. Presumably they sold it back then to parts unknown.

All Furanos came with full Ohlins, shock/forks/damper, so that's not an issue.

The setup info that I'd like to hear about is:
1. Sag settings (I was going to use a general 35mm front/25mm rear as a guess)
2. Rear link length setting (no clue what this should be, but know it's critical)

I agree 100% about those wheels....they're gorgeous, but insanely heavy. But I don't regularly track this bike, so originality is more important to me. (I have the original mirrors, but since I like to know what's behind me, I've replaced them with bar end mirrors).

Thanks again for chiming in.

Bruce, 1. I use about 30mm which seems to work fine for me, anything in the range you have listed should be fine. 2. The stock rod length is 70.5mm c.c., that is what I have it at. Like Joe said light wheels are a big improvement and I do mean big improvement.

Thumbs up

John: Thank you very much for that info! I'll start there (unless someone else has a different opinion).

Varmitcong & TheX: Thank you for the kind words Sirs!

Hi Erv, my buddy bought your dieci. I already had 2 at the time(still have one). Happened to have a new set of bodywork on the shelf for the one you sold him. Left with only a DB7, Santa Monica and YB10. The DB7 is for sale.
Bruce, I found your number ages ago and called to see if you WOULD sell it. It wasn't for sale. Wouldn't have sold it if I were you either!!
