Moto Corse Tunnel Port Exhaust QUESTIONS ???
Ive been told that the Moto Corse titanium TUNNEL PORT full exhaust system that was/is originally designed to fit the BIMOTA SB8R/SB8RS models will also fit the BIMOTA SB8K Gobert Replica and the BIMOTA SB8K Santa Monica models.
Does anyone know this to be true or false???
I ask because a out of state BIMOTA dealer contacted me regarding this question.
I have been told by a few people that this is true. The Tunnel Port system for the SB8R/SB8RS does work on the SB8K models.
However, I personally have never seen a SB8K with a tunnel port exhaust.
Does anyone know of an SB8K with a tunnel port ???? If so Id love to see a picture of it.
At the very least Id like to know for sure if it will work.
I dont want to tell this dealer that it will work, only to find out that it does not. It could cost some people alot of waisted time and thousands of dollars. And I dont want the blame to give the wrong advice .
Thanks for any help on this.
Doug

If it worked, I'd have one on mine. What makes the tunnel port sexy is that its hidden and makes the tail section look great. the SB8R and S have alot of empty room under the tail, the SB8K has none. Its closed in and has a little storage shelf underneath. It would still look good, but not as good as it does on the regular SB8. Of course, anything can be made to work with alot of fabrication and money. It just hurts more when you start with an expensive bike and exhaust and start chopping bits and pieces.

How much modification do you think you would need to do to adapt an SB8R/SB8RS Moto Corse Tunnel Port to fit the Santa Monica???? Do you think it can be done ???
Im guessing about this. As we all know the Tunnel Port is designed to exit out the end of the tail section where the tail light/ brake light is on the SB8R/SB8RS model. Maybe on the Santa Monica it will not fit and work this way??? I dont know. Is it possible that the SB8R Tunnel Port could work on the Santa Monica if it exited just under the tail light ????
I do not have both models in front of me. I have of course seen a number of Santa Monica bikes but I do not recall exactly how the tail section looks from the underside.
Ive also tried to see if Moto corse ever made a Tunnel Port for the SB8K models and all I find is reference to the SB8R/SB8RS.
If you dont mind me asking, can you give us more of your thoughts about this idea of adapting the Tunnel port to the SM???
Thanks for your input

I have a SB8R with Slip-on Moto Corse and an SB8K Gobert with the original exhaust, I never brought the change, but the rest of the exhaust are different.
Recently, I'm the new Moto Corse dealer for Spain and Portugal, if you want I can ask to San Marino.

Please find out if you can. It would be helping a fellow BIMOTA owner here in the states.

The answer from Moto Corse:
BIMOTA SB8K Gobert Replica and the BIMOTA SB8K Santa Monica is exhaust system is not the same for SB8.
The TUNNEL PORT full exhaust system that was/is originally designed to fit the BIMOTA SB8R/SB8RS models will NOT fit the BIMOTA SB8K Gobert Replica and the BIMOTA SB8K Santa Monica models.
Also Unfortunately SB8R Moto Corse Slip -On, installation is not possible.
