I started using the new pilot pure tires earlier this year and IMHO they are a great sports tire. i like them alot, and I also like the idea of saving some extra unsprung weight with them at the same time as using a state of the art tire.
The Santa Monica intake is a beautiful design. A unique approach to injection dynamics to improve throttle response. I believe that BIMOTA also went from the 59mm TBs of the SB8R/SB8RS to 52mm on the SB8K Santa Monica......I guess to smooth out the power delivery especially in the lower and mid rpm range.
If you have had the chance to ride both your Santa Monica and an SB8R/SB8RS how would you compare how the fueling system works/feels??? Personally I love the way my SB8RS bikes perform. The harder you push them the better they seem to work. But they do not like stop and go traffic very much however. Luckily I have the mountains right outside my door
thanks for the pics

I have not had the chance to compare the two side by side. But this was the first hard ride, as the stock tires were so far off it was unrideable.
I was with my fastest riding buddy and pushed it pretty far. The tires are great and the motor pulls clean from top to bottom.
Like my MV Agusta F4, it is better the harder you lean on it.
Has anyone had much luck with trying to get to the rear shock spanner nut, to back off spring preload without a full teardown. I can barley see it. Looks like maybe if the air box removed it would help.
This is going to be a fun bike

Love your tank prop!
It's uncanny that some of the most beautifully engineered bikes often lack some rather basic essentials (like a proper titanium prop rod). Guess they just didn't want the extra 5 grams it would have cost.
All the same, as has beed stated, a beautiful set-up.

rear shock spanner nut
I found the access door in the air box to get at the shock, thanks Ken.

Pilot pures are wonderful. I can't understand building a world class bike and then putting on Conti Crapattacks like the ones that came with my DB 7. Dave
