Shame I Don't Have More Money or Space
I've been lusting after a Bimota for years and the last couple of times I seriously considered it, I bought other bikes (Ducati). I'm always surfing around for Bimotas for sale and wish I had the money and space for this one (YB-11)...

My wife has a 2000 R1 and I love the power delivery of it. I can only imagine having the YB-11 with the '97 Thunderace engine and the bike being lighter than the R1.
Being quite familiar with the Ducati engines, though, I keep telling myself I may be better off getting a DB4 (prefer a DB2). I never really cared for the Mantra too much, but I like this yellow one and the price is fairly tempting...

Maybe when I finish my master's degree next year, I'll "reward" myself with a Bimota.....or start working on a pilot's license.
I hate having more "wants" than I have money and space.

Desmo,
I know what you're saying.
Personally, I like that YB-11. Considering it is a Bimota, the asking price still seems a bit high.
That Mantra looks the part and I am lusting after an SS for a second bike, but that frame would scare the shite out of me. Servicing that 'could' be a nightmare.
Good luck with the aspiractions though.
For me, all things considered, I'm in a happy place at the moment. The SS dreams (it would be a Hyper if there were enough funds) are good enough to think about.
Have a good one.

I just started the program in January and will have my fourth of ten classes completed in less than two weeks. If all goes well, I'll be done next August.

The last couple of years I've been seeing them in the $8k-$12k range depending on the color and condition (I prefer the blue/silver ones). I saw a red/white YB-11 a while back for $5500. The guy was selling it to avoid foreclosure on his house. I think the bike lasted less than 24-hours at that price. If it wasn't on the west coast, I probably would have tried my best to get it. I think it would have looked good in the kitchen.
In general, a Bimota for under $8k seems to be an oddity and they are usually the DB4 bikes.

I've got a YB8 Furano and a DB4 TriColore Corse....and had a DB3 for a year.
There's such a huge difference between the YB and the DB bikes that you'd really need to look at what you want in a bike, not just a Bimota, to choose.
The YB is stiff, very fast, and top heavy (and just plain heavy, relative to the DB4).
The DB4 is light, torquey, and flickable fun.
The DB3 has the same frame as the -4, but the weight (and styling obviously) is so different, and IMO the DB3 is a competent bike, but nothing like the canyon bike that the DB4 is.
The DB4 has been my favorite street machine since it found its way into my stable a couple years ago. Purchased a 3k mile, mint condition one for $11k....best money I've ever spent.

I wonder how the YB-11 would compare to a '98-'01 Yamaha R1. When we first got my wife's R1, my 748 would have been history and sold to buy an R1 had it not been for the amount of money I had in it compared to the number of miles I'd put on the bike. I felt at home on the R1 in no time and my wife said I was riding it better and faster than I ever did my 748 prior to that point within the first 300 milles (the first day riding it). I figure the YB-11 couldn't feel anywhere near as top-heavy as my ST2 feels in the really tight and twisty stuff.
If I won the lottery and could choose only one bike, I'd probably pick the DB5R, but I think the YB11 or DB4 will be what I would more likely purchase...leaning more on the side of the YB11, though.

Keep in mind that the Furano has all Ohlin suspension as compared to the YB11 (and the DB4 TriColore comes with an Ohlin shock)....so direct comparisons to the YB11 may be moot.
Sounds like you enjoy the 4 cyl bikes better than the twins. SB6's are another Bimota that you may consider.

That bike in Dallas was owned by a friend of mine. It sold Wednesday night for $8,300. It was perfect.
