Resistance was futile & suspension question

I am new to Bimota ownership just having added a 2007 DB6 Azzurro to my garage. I lusted after this bike since laying eyes on it a couple of years ago at the dealership. Every time I saw it I would think of the line from Wayne's World "One day it will be mine", well that day came to pass just a couple of weeks ago.

I have a question about the suspension. What is the spring rate, what is the weight of the fork oil and the amount of oil ? I am finding the fork to be just too harsh. With preload all the way out I get only 22 mm of static sag and no amount of adjusting of the compression and rebound can dial out the harsh and rigid fork response. I have contacted Marzocchi USA and they did not know the stock spring rate and doubted they even had an alternative spring in stock. Anyone have any insight ?

Marzocchi USA & Italy have been absent for me.

Which fork model does your DB have?

I too have found that Marzocchi support is absent. Even they could not tell me the exact model fork that is being used on the DB6. It is a 50mm USD model with 120mm of stroke. That is all I have been able to discover. I am beginning to think I may have to take the forks apart, perform some measurements and contact someone like Race Tech.

The forks are Marzocchi RAC 50s. You can download the manual and exploded diagrams here: http://www.marzocchi.co.uk/techinfo.html

How about some pics of your bike while you're at it

DucShop has created Marzocchi to Ohlins spring adaptors this week for the 43mm USD Marzocchi forks.
Don't know if the 50mm springs are as 'odd' as the 43mm ones.

Give them a call.....

Here are some pics. According to the tech stuff the springs appear to be oddball conical things. I will give them a call and see about adapters for the 50 mm forks.

Marzocchi RAC 043 Spring

My web research indicates there are 3 different rates defined for these forks.
I was unable to find any available.

From everything I've read, progressive springs are a compromise solution to attempt to handle the variety of rider/buyer weights.

I'll report back after I get some quality time on the new Ohlins 0.95 springs.
