.... a heady combination of low power, nervous high-speed manners, poor suspension

and indifferent front-end feel.

Inside the May '10 issue of Roadracing World is a review by Sam Q. Fleming of Michelin's Power Pure tires. The writer said "For some reasons beyond my immediate comprehension, of all the bikes available for my selection I chose to ride the Bimota Tesi 3D. The Bimota is fitted with an air-cooled Ducati 1100 engine but it felt dreadfully underpowered when trying to maintain over 200 kph (120 mph) on the Spanish back roads. It was the first time I had ridden a hub-center-steered bike and truth be told, it probably wasn't the best choice for tire testing but sometimes the uniqueness of an experience outweighs practicality. Although the bike and I didn't always see eye to eye on every issue (speed, handling rough roads, wooden brakes, quirky suspension behavior) we did part as friends."

I enjoyed the pictures of the bike at speed.

His opinion, although I don't know what I'd be comfortable on trying to maintain 120 mph on tight roads, 'course I'm not a motor journalist so I don't make a living out of finding fault. Dave

If I want a track/stopwatch/laptime evaluation of a modern superbike, I'll consult RRW and others. For something as special and iconic as a Tesi 3D, I'll refer to an actual owner (like Dave) and/or passionate dealer (like Bob Steinbugler).

Wow... A 95hp air-cooled bike runs out of steam at buck-twenty-plus speeds... Really? What a shocker. Not exactly profound subject matter. All 800,000 CBR1Ks are faster, "better" sportbikes than Ms. Tesi.

Here's further revelation: All Jap literbikes are WAY less money than a Tesi 3D. Do tell! Oh... and MotoGP bikes are faster and better-handling than production streetbikes... No, really. They are. Like... Fer sure, dude.

For those wanting a bazillion-hp Tesi, there's always the supercharged 1198-powered Vyrus C3 987.

(All simple, biting sarcastic humor.)

The author rode two other bikes for the test. A Ducati 1098 that he did not like and a ZX-10 that he loved.

Steve
I'd take your Tesi over either of those.

A lot of "testers" who do know know anything about suspension adjustments will simply ride/test a bike exactly as it is presented/delivered to them.

Anyone with any brains will take the time to check over the bike and take the time that it takes to set the bike up to the rider and dial in the suspension not to mention checking the tire pressure.

My guess is that this guy is to ignorant and stupid to do an objective review of a bike of any brand. The fact that he got a chance to try riding an ultra exotic like the BIMOTA Tesi 3D probably frightened him. He also is most likely so rigid in his thinking that any thing that is not normal ( for him this means a mass produced Jap bike) is bewildering beyond his limited capacity to comprehend.

May be if he had approached the Tesi 3D review with an open mind, and spent a day with the bike to sort it to his riding style, maybe then his opinion who be of some limited value at the very most.

But when a self appointed "expert" insults us with a anal retentive review, what we need to do is wish him well, as he is obviously mentally ill.

Let us all wish him a fast recovery.

Get well soon is all I can say ( to him).

Just my thoughts on the mater.

Said like a true lover of fine Italian innovation!

I'd just like to be able to try one, let alone own one.
