Yeah- that's the reason I'm using too, Dave....I don't want it because it's new.... It has absolutely nothing to do with the fact that I can't dream of affording it! (What a beautifully put together motorcycle)

Why would BIMOTA sell a factory prototype?

If BIMOTA built this bike to R&D a possible race bike and/or eventual street bike off spring of the race bike, why would they sell the prototype test bike?

First of all it would give up any secrets BIMOTA might have in the design and/or function of the new race bike but also do away with a R&D machine that might still be of value, not just to the racing dept. but to the development of a middle sized BIMOTA production bike that would fill an empty spot in the available models. It would reintroduce the Honda engine, be a 600cc powered bike and an inline 4 also.

I would think that if/when BIMOTA was done with this bike they would keep it in the collection of other prototype bikes.

I think that someone is wrong in saying the bike is for sale. Maybe it is a simple misunderstanding, or a news story that is a stretch of the truth just to get a stir.

Has anyone tried to buy it yet???

How would one prove or disprove this story?

The frame is made from chrome moly steel and high tech aluminum billet

Paioli gas charged forks, forged mag wheels and Brembo monoblock calipers.
Engine management, data recording and the dashboard functions will be
run by the well known MoTec ADL system.

This I can believe. So now we have a mid sized full race spec Honda engined BIMOTA available to the buying public, even though it is rather expensive.

But the price may not actually be that bad considering what you get for the money. Every one that has ever raced knows how expensive it is. And this is not a bike converted to race spec, its a true race bike built from the ground up with top of the line kit.

Personally Ill wait to see if BIMOTA comes out with a street legal production model based on this race bikes design. I think it would be a great compliment to what BIMOTA already has to offer.
