Same Theme -- New Decade

MCN just published a report that Nikko Bakker has decided to build a very expensive Naked based on the Suzuki TLR 1000 engine, what he and the article describe as a very good engine which never got the credit it deserved as housed by Suzuki in a badly designed, overweight, poor handling chassis.

Seems that Bimota figured that out in the late 1990s when it built the SB8R and later the SB8K around this same engine. So much for new discoveries and the new Bakker is only 26,000 pounds! Guess Bimotas can be inexpensive after all since you can still pick up a new in crate SB8R for the price of a 1098S. Dave

Haven't seen the article in MCN .... is this going to be a completely new bike? In the late 90's, Nico Bakker offered the Barracuda bike, powered by Suzuki's TL1000 engine. Maybe he's going to improve that design and while he's at it, make it lighter too? According to the spec-sheet, the Barracuda's dry-weight is 175 kg (1). That's a smidgeon less than the SB8R's dry-weight of 178 kg (2)

The article was short and promised more next week. The photo showed a Ducati like trellis frame, quite unlike the Barracuda. Dave
