Hb4
from MCN
Bimota’s exquisite new Moto2 contender will form the basis of a new supersport-capacity roadbike if the season goes well and Honda agrees to sell the Rimini firm engines.
The HB4, which has already been tested at tiny Italian track Binetto in the hands of rider Roberto Tamburini, is the first Honda-powered Bimota in 25 and features a new design of hybrid steel trellis / magnesium casting frame.
The race bike has an adjustable steering head and engine mounts.
A spokesman for the currently exclusively Ducati-powered firm told MCN: “The story of our company shows we have always produced bikes with different companies’ engines, and that is what we are going to do in future”.

nice paint scheme
nice chassis but wrong engine. this is a fine example for what ducati clients are looking for. put an air cooled v-twin in and the new, a couple of years asked for supersport is born !

Why do you think that the Honda power plant is the "wrong" engine ????
Personally a Honda engined BIMOTA would be great in my opinion.
BIMOTA has always used engines from different manufacturers, and mostly JapLander ones at that.

for ducati clients which await a replacement for the supersport would this chassis be great, but in this combination ducati + chassis it would be the 'wrong' engine...
of course, bimota used power plants from all jap factories in their history.

Nothing "wrong" with a Honda powered Bimota. They used Japanese engines lo build their reputation. Indeed, the first Ducati powered Bimota was the DB1. A street version with this would sell well, particularly here in the US where Ducati has a reputation for expensive service and Honda mechs and parts are readily available. Dave
p.s. It has been a while since they had a Honda powered Bimota, here is a shot of my 1982 HB2, 900cc Bol d'Or engine:

I could easily see one of these in my garage. I think it is another beautiful example of BIMOTAs unique approach to motorcycle design.
It looks well thought out. And if BIMOTA makes a street version, it would be a great middle weight supersport. Its about time BIMOTA put another Honda engine in one of their bikes. The engine would be very easily upgraded since there are tons of aftermarket go fast bits available for Honda mills.
It will be fun to see what comes from this project. I hope it goes all the way into production so the general public can benefit from BIMOTA getting back into racing, even if it is in a small way. Personally I think BIMOTA is being smart by adding a 4 cylinder mid sized bike to the line up.
Ive been thinking of getting a Triumph 675, but now I think Ill wait for a HB4.....

you misunderstood my thread or my statement was too imprecise. 'cause of bimota's history it's not "wrong" or unusual to use honda plants.
the moto2 bike and probably offered road-replica is an example which way ducati should go to create an own kind of supersport. in this relation i've talked about a 'wrong' engine combination.
