Preliminary Shots for Wisconsin Motorcycle Museum
Here are some shots we took today of a portion of the Bimota collection for the Wisconsin Motorcycle Museum that will be opening in Kenosha Wisconsin in about two weeks. We are still under construction and some of the Bimota from my collection are stored in the shop area, some in the store area, and all of the areas plus the museum space are still under construction. I thought some early shots might be of interest. Dave

Sorry for the poor, cell phone quality and the fact that they are all jammed in while we finish construction. When we are up and running, these bikes, along with other Bimota from my collection and other goodies will be available on line in hi res and properly titled. I have been getting a lot of contact about when and what, so this is just a 'hold on' until later this month.
Any feedback would be appreciated, except for my lousy photographic skills. Dave

No need to apologize, without the construction the average guy may never see some of the bikes you have. It 's also interesting to see things as it progresses. That is a Tesi 2D beside the 1D, I thought you only had the 1 and 3D's?

Dnovo, maybe others on site already know, but I'm curious if you're a dealer or an avid collector of Bimotas? That's an impressive collection... how long has it taken you to put it together?

Nope, I have had the 2D for some time. My only complaint about it is the fact that my left knee hits the shock on hard braking. Dave

I was, until recently, simply an avid collector. I have been riding and collecting all my life (I am 62 years old.) When a local dealership folded, the Service Manager, who had been doing a lot of work with me on my bikes, suggested we look into a facility where he could do independent service on motorcycles, sell parts and accessories, do conversions and high end restoration, sell and install performance parts, etc I agreed to change what was then storage of nearly a hundred bikes (which will, effective with their delivery tomorrow, include a Bimota YB3 and SB1 GP racers), into a museum to be incorporated into the site.
The facility we found is in an big old Chevy dealership with tons of room for winter storage in an area where many riders lay their bikes up for the winter. The customer lounge will have race videos on a big screen, free coffee, tons of parking, and we will be open for service and viewing of the collection seven days a week.
Does that make me a dealer? Who knows, but it gives me a place on weekends where I can sit back in my office there when I am not working on a bike and work on my law practice on a computer just as I would normally have done from home -- except I can smoke one of my cigars without hearing a scream from my wife
In any event, I am happy to have made the change and look forward to the new venture. Now if I could only track down that KB2 I have been looking to add to the collection, everything would be even better.
Dave

Okay, prizes for the sharp-eyed PMs. Yes, that is a Velocette in sixth photo, against the rear wall. It is a 68 Thruxton, ex-Dave Smith, and 100% restored with either NOS or newly-fabricated parts along with several of Dave's famous modifications (belt drive primary, etc.) A true classic and the last of the fast 500 singles, still capable of winning races when the company died a year or so later. Next prize is for the identification of the 999R Xerox at the end of the front row in the first picture and the special prize for the same individual who identified the Honda RC51 in its last, black and silver color scheme from the tail section shown in the first picture and the front view of it in the second. He also got the Aprilia 250 Cup from the quick shot of the front and its race logos. Very impressive!!!!
Several comments on the Daytona Orange BMW R90S next to the YB9 (guess that was easier) but I was surprised to see one of our Bimota types who recognized the Norton ES2 next to the SB6R. Yes, that is the rarely seen factory installed chronometric tach mounted on a Randy Baxter restoration. Not real fast, but very, very smooth 1958 British 'cooking' 500 cc single.
The Honda RC30 and VF1000R parked to the left of the Tesi 2D was easier for several to spot. Sharp eyes asked if that is a second RC30 further to the left of the first. Nope, it is a 400cc version, the NC30 which I acquired along with an NC35, the 400cc version of the RC45. The Moto Morini 500 was an easy spotter.
Next, yep that is a Honda NSR 150 sitting in the row of DBs. A four stroke single, Thai market bike. Handles great, too small for me but my son, the Hebrew Hammer loves that and says it handles great.
Finally, the grand prize goes go the forum member who picked up the 999R FILA in the shot of the DB7 from the portion of the FILA logo on the top of its tank, and then figured out from the reflections in the shop windows that there was an Aprilia RSVR Factory to the left of the Tesi 3D and a 2002 998S Bostrom Replica to the right, from the paint scheme and 155 number on the front of its fairing as reflected in the last two shots. Good grief, REALLY sharp eyes and a quick mind!!!!!!
No more guessing folks, I am out of door prizes.
Dave
