Painting my DB3

Guys..
Im going to do some touch up paint on my DB3. Its a yellow one and needs some scratches and chips touched up...

Would you guys consider doing custom paint on a DB3?

the reason im asking is..that this machine is simply a jaw dropper to look at..like it or hate it..i certainly grabs attention like nothing ive ever owned.

So somthing like a tri color or more traditional for bimota white with green and red lines. Dip the whole thing in flat black and touch the edges in green?

What do you guys think?

I saw one that Bob Smith the former importer of bimota had done, were the stock color was replaced with a metailic cranberry or dark pink which I thought looked quite nice.

I just saw a few photo's of a yellow and black DB3 Mantra. Can't say that I am a fan of the paint. I have to say the Tricolor sounds like a great paint scheme for that machine. I vote for Tricolor, it would really make it stand out.

I agree that one either loves or hates the looks of the Mantra a/k/a DB3. I fall into the latter camp, although I own one as part of my multi-Bimota collection. The price was right, and while it looks odd, it handles and rides very well. It is sitting next to its half-brother in my facility, a DB4 Corse. The frames are identical except for the finish. I'd go with a solid paint color. The trio-color may be to much on an already overly-complex look. Just my opinion, YMMV. Dave

I love DB3's. I think the amount of painted area (well, lack thereof) and just the complexity of it all means that one main colour and another as highlight (yellow or red and then the metallic black) is about as far as you can go with it. Although a bit of an outrageous bike, the colours are nicely understated.

I like Mantra's but then I like most things that are different.

The idea of Tricolor is not bad if you took the Italian flag and impossed it over the bike, body, frame & motor. Sort of like this:

Now if you could just have it do this also!

Original tricolor

If you choose to do the tricolor I think go with the original scheme, I've seen some people changing to deeper or brighter greens and reds, and it becomes a different flag

My wife loved this one in purple. The owner recently repainted it silver and black. I don't have a picture of the current color scheme, but I really like the silver/black. Here it is in purple...
