Smile New Tesi 3D owner

Well I just bought a Brand New Bimota Tesi 3D.....#14 to be exact.

I should get delivery of my new Bim in the next week or 2. Ill try to post some pics once I actually have my hands on the bike.

So this makes my 4th Bimota. I still have 3 Bimota SB8RS bikes that I have enjoyed for the last nearly 10 years. The SB8RS bikes are still dream bikes even though they are basically a decade old.

I have not decided yet if my new Tesi 3D will be ridden or just kept in my living room as a piece of art.

One of the main reasons I decided to buy the new Tesi vs a Ducati 1098R for example, is that the new Tesi just looks so totally uniqure. Its such a departure from the norm, but in my opinion is one of the most beautiful bikes I have ever seen and/or touched.

I have had the oppertunity to sit on a new Tesi 3D at a local dealer. The first time I actually saw one in person I must of spent an hour or 2 just admiring the craftsmanship and superb detailing of the bike.

Its one of the few bikes that once I saw/sat on on, I knew I had to own one. Similar to my experience with the Hummer H1 4X4, or a Tanner 300 M match Swiss rifle... you get the idea...

The new Bimotas are really quite impressive. I had feared that the latest Bimota models may actually lose their quality and be so-so bikes that just stood on the Bimota name. But the DB5/DB5R, DB6/DB6R, Tesi 3D....all are all a step above the Bimotas of the 1990s.......

My SB8RS bikes are a little rough around the edges compared to the fit and finish of the latest Bimotas....This is a very good thing.

As I approach hitting my 60s, I have decided to sell off/part with a number of my small collection of bikes to make room for not just the new Tesi 3D, but another 1,2, or 3 newest Bimotas....I am that impressed.

All I can say is that if you have not actually seen the very latest Bimotas, you are missing out. Even the very best pictures and/or videos do not do these bike the justice they deserve. They are the top of the line in handcraftsmanship....

Well...enough said. Ill follow up with more info once I get my new bike delivered.

thanks for taking your valuable time reading the thoughts of a middle age manchild...

I never thought that the 3D Tesi looked that great, until i saw one in person at the Rock Store. Wow! I agree, pictures don't do it justice. Congrats.

from "even if you don't have one you understand"... congratulations. There is one on ebay right now being advertised for $9k below sticker... but I can't bring myself to do it... the "R" beckons... mostly though I don't know if I'd have the guts to ride it

Good work! Personally I'd have a Tesi over a 1098. I had a peek at the DB7 a few weeks ago and it was just sensational. Apart from the engine, I don't think there was one bit of cast metal on the bike. There wasn't much plastic either - it was just about all carbon fibre. The attention detail was ace, one thing was that the wiring loom seemed to ba made in such a way that all the connectors were in the same position on the bike....in the middle of the V of the engine, and all the connectors lined up on a nice little bracket. And this morning I see this video which just adds to the radness: http://videos.howstuffworks.com/disc...tory-video.htm ...........Ace!!

When I was deciding about the Bimota Tesi 3D, there was a Ducati 1098R right next to it, not a 1098, or a 1098S, but the 1098R king of the V twin superbikes.

So here I am; Tesi 3D on my right, Ducati 1098R on my left, and me in the middle. I looked at both bikes. But decided to go with the Tesi 3D......no contest in my mind....no regretts either.....

The Bimota DB7 is on my want list however......even with the standard 1098 engine, Id take it over the Ducati 1098R.....

Now, if Bimota made a DB7R...with the Ducati 1098R engine...well, I would not complain....Id just need to save more pennies, and get it.....

Im actually hoping Bimota can build a bike with a Ducati Vee 4 Desmosedici engine.....

I am jealous and just hope you take advantage of all that technical R&D and work and ride it. I just hope I get to try one out some day to see how that front end works and handles!

Ride it. That's what they are meant for. I have a lot of Bimotas, ranging from a KB1 through the DB6R I rode for the first time this weekend -- and put about 150 miles, all of which were pure joy. I still ride my Tesi 1Dsr as well. And I too am an older rider (Sunday was my 61st birthday, and the DB6R was my birthday gift from my wife and kids, the Desmocedici was my present to myself.) I use all my finer toys, although I prefer my Grunig and Elmiger 6.5X47 Lapua to my 6.5X55 Tanner.

Ride it. You will enjoy it more than just looking at it. Dave

It's a learning process, but once you find the limits (carefully on curves with a large runoff area) you will find the handling quite good. The three iterations of the Tesi all respond differently, the early 1D series a bit 'wooden' compared to the newest versions. The 3D is, despite the short period of development time between this newest version and the 2D still built by Vyrus, IMHO the best modulated and easiest to ride of the three. Rumor has it that a 4D is in the offing. Should be interesting. Dave
