Bimota DB1 carb settings

Does anyone know what the baseline settings are for the DB1 carbs? We've played around with different jets but the front cylinder still doesn't seem to be running right.

The bike has an aftermarket (and fairly open by the sound of it!) exhaust on and 40mm Dell O'rtos (I think they are supposed to be 36mm stock?). Sea level, hot and humid Hong Kong weather...

Any info or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!

I can find out what mine are set at, but you might check to see if they are in synch first. I changed my cables from two to one so it would stay more in synch. Mine were always going out of synch with the two cables and driving me crazy

We finally went a few sizes down on the jets and got it running OK. Tracked down more info from the seller - it apparently has Santa Monica cams in it (not sure if they came stock that way?!) - that's probably why it doesn't want to idle at anything less than 2k!

Congrats on your new purchase. The db1 is a lovely bike.
36mm carbies are standard, and I don't think that the bikes came with Santa Monica cams because mine idles nicely at 1100 rpm.
You will probably find that the voltage regulator has been moved from underneath the petrol tank to a spot where is gets some cooling. Batteries also get fried, but sealed lead acid batteries such as Odyssey seem to manage very well.
Tyres (Michelin are now the only source) are hard to find in OZ.

Thanks. Yes, it's an ABSOLUTELY wonderful bike - tiny and short, perfect for my 5'5" stature!

Yes, it definitely gets hot in traffic - thanks for the pointers re: voltage regulator and battery. Will have to check on those later.

Tires are a headache, but the ones on the bike seem to be relatively OK still. I'll be scratching my head with its time to change tires! Probably will have to go with non-stock sizes.

I have an AVON AV46 150/80ZR16 tyre on the rear (formerly 160/60ZR16 Michelin). The higher profile tyre suits the bike IMO.

Replacement countershaft sprockets are also hard to find (maybe the factory still has some for sale?), but a good choice is to change to a 520 chain, using a Ducati 750 Sport (from the late 1980's) and a made-to-order rear sprocket. I have this conversion on my bike.

Yes, I was looking at the Avons too for a possible future replacement.

Thanks for the tip on the sprockets - will worry about those when the time comes!
