SB8K Santa Monica Pricing- Help!

Gents,

I'm giving heavy consideration to pulling the trigger on the bike of my dreams- a 2006 Bimota SB8K Santa Monica. Words alone cannot describe how beautiful that bike is- the build quality is just stunning! I've managed to find a new 06' with 0 miles. In your opinions, what should I be paying for a new SB8K? How quickly do these bikes depreciate? It's hard to tell because there aren't as many out there...
Thanks for the help!

Opinions are the same as Harley's, lots out there and none worth much. So I'll give you my worthless one. Have you looked arond a lot? Here: http://www.jaxed.com/cgi-bin/moto.cgi
There is one listed there and perhaps the one you are looking at. I've been looking for a long time and hope to have found one, a DB. I once read that if you buy a Bimota you should not expect to make money on it. That said I saw how much the bike I'm interested in was selling for and have found people trying to sell one for what it was worth new. If you look around you'll find prices all over the world are about the same, so expect no bargins. I think you have the best chance to make a deal on a new old stock one, as perhaps the dealer thinks it is time to recoup some of the money. If you go with cash then they know you are serious and will not like the idea of you walking away. The more time you spend with a sales person the more time he has invested with you. They also may think you are more serious then. How many people are looking for an 06 SB8? To me that would also seem like a customer I don't want to have leave. If you can find a sales guy who will talk to you then perhaps you can get an idea of what cost the bike was to the dealer and how much the 1st offer should be. I would ask the question of how much other SB8 owners paid for their bikes.
Good luck

Catimann-

Thanks for the great advice. I'd never heard about jaxed.com before you mentioned it- what a terrific website (now in my "favorites"). The SB8K listed is actually different from the one I had my eye on, and a few thousand dollars cheaper too! It's fair to say I owe you a beer, friend. I'll place a call Monday morning.
I think you're absolutely right about the best deal being found in old-stock. The MSRP on this bike was originally $45k, and to think that the bike could be had now for less than half of that... Can't help but feel sorry (damn near cry) for the poor 06' SB8K buyers that took over a $25,000 depreciation hit in their two years of ownership! A healthy lesson from Bimota- exotic prices equal exotic depreciation! Even at the asking price of ~$19,800 (roughly the price of a 1098S), the depreciation margin is much smaller and IMO, it's a better bang for the buck than most anything on the road.
I'm excited about this opportunity, and will keep the board posted...!
