Who Makea Da Gearbox?

One thing that has me stumped: The gearbox on my V-due is great. Fast and crisp shifting. Who made it? Unlike every other Bimota, who used a drivetrain from an outside source, the V-due used a Bimota built engine. I know that they didn't have the means to build a 'box, and can't find any markikng on the outside and don't want to pull it apart to find out. Who made this superb six speed? Dave

Perhaps this web site will help: http://www.vdue.it/
It has a lot of PDF manuals and may shed some light.

Nope. I was aware of the site, which has the specs taken from the manuals that came with my bike (one of the two 2001 CARBURETTOR VERSION
EVOLUZIONE CORSA Model Bob Steinbugler brought in late last year with the much 'hotted' engine) but still no luck on who made it. Can't tell if Ducati or Japanese sourced. Dave

Well Bob at Bimota Spirit had the answer: Bimota made it, another item in the "all Bimota built V-due" concept. A cassette style box so the ratios could be altered with ease. Problem was, this too had issues with shims, etc. So, the reason mine shifts so smoothly and is both light and positive is, like the engine, it too was completely re-done post bankruptcy so it works -- now, years after the V-due and its many great ideas, but flawed initial execution, executed its parent.

Sic semper Gloria Mundi. At least mine is working right, nice powerband, great handling, and a great gearbox, courtesy of a thorough reengineering and rebuild. Dave
