I read this post from top to botom and seems he still has it. His asking price is . . . well steep. If you look in Europe, where there are alot, the price is much more sane. http://www.mobile.de/home/index.html?lang=de#1 look under "Motorräder" and you can find prices on any bike.
Even with exchange and shiping (less than $1000) it would be a better deal.
I would think he'll have it a while.
Thanks for the lead though, it is much appreciated!!!!!

I agree that he is asking too much. He probably doesn't want to part with it, but if someone is willing to pay his asking price, he will let it go. I went back in forth over a DB2 and a DB4. Ended up with a 2000 DB4IE Biposta with the Ducati fuel injection. The Ducati Fuel injection was only on the 2000 year for the DB4. I am a big fan of fuel injection so that helped my decision. Bimota had their own fuel injection on some of the DB2's and I would stay away from them, stick to the carbed DB2's. I purchased it new a couple months ago from Bob @ bimotaspirit.com. Yes 7 years old with zero miles. All I had to do is change the belts (because they were 7 years old) and do an oil change. I paid a couple grand less than the above DB2's asking price. Bob is a wealth of knowledge and if he does not have a DB2 for sale, he probably knows where one is.
Here is the sister bike of the one I have. I was told only 75 2000 DB4ie's made, 12 only made it to the US and some were half fairing models. This one also came from Bob at Bimota Spirit. Mine is red and silver though.

I really like your DB4, it has a style to it that will never look old. It is stock color, right?
I have found a few web sites that show pictures of Bimota's http://www.bimota-freunde.de/ then there is http://www.bimota-enthusiasts.com/
On these sites are quite a few different paint scemes that all look original but I have only seen one or two that I know are factory.
Does anyone know the story and how many different paint styles the bikes came in?

Uh-huh. Sure, but only if he can't get it. If it sells then his price was just right. Think about it, when was the last time you saw a DB2 for sale? Fewer around than a DB4 and then not necessarily in good shape. Supply and demand. Most of us who have a DB2 are not really interested in selling anyhow. Dave

DB4's had a total of 264 1999's made. As per this web site. http://www.bimota-freunde.de/
If you want to look click on the left side link called Schrauber-Archiv, then on the red link called "...Typenliste Bimota von 1975 bis 2000 ...". The only heading anyone may not figure out is "Anzahl" which means quantity.
There is this one also http://www.bimota-enthusiasts.com/ that shows alot of info. but not on DB4's.
I think Europe is the place for info about Bimota, because there are so many there.
