SB8K Santa Monica - Ducati.ms

I have an opportunity to purchase, at a considerable reduction over the original asking price, a new 2006 SB8K Santa Monica. I have all the technical information but road test and owner information and comments on this model are scarce so I would very much appreciate any input from forum members. Many thanks.

I have not ridden one our seen one, have seen the actual race bike it is based on and have a SB8RS. From what I know they were built in late 2000 and early 2001 sat unfinished for awhile during the bankruptcy problems. It is just a update of the SB8R, have heard that FI is not the same in all the bikes from stock Suzuki too Shower style. The wheels are OZ and much lighter then the Antera on the previous models. It is still a fast bike by todays standards. Handling is very good might need some time to set up. If the price is right go for it.

I have ridden both the 'old' SB8R and the new Santamonica. I could not see any performance difference, and the newer bike uses a digital dash rather than the analog instruments of the 8R. I prefer the former and since even at a 'good price' the new/old 8R cost a bit over 14k, I'd go with an 'old' bike for the substantial difference in price. Dave
