Bimota Tesi
hello everyone -
One of my dealers has a first gen Tesi. Uncrated and prepped. Zero miles. Perfect condition.
Any idea what this machine would be worth? He is looking at selling it, along with a clean Rickman Kawasaki he is also sitting on.
Thanks!

Wow - that's cool. Definitely not cheap though!
There's a Tesi 1D SR listed on Cybermotorcycle. Brand new, never started - the owner wants 4,500,000 yen for it (approx. USD39000+).
That Rickman Kawasaki sounds interesting. I think I might have someone interested - can you send me more info? Thanks!
Phil

Depends on which 'first gen' Tesi. The very early ones had issues with the front suspension set up which were substantially improved in the later models. The more desirable, IMHO, is the 1 -Dsr, with the 906cc engine, the 851 with a longer stroke built by Bimota. Of course, the ES version is even more scare.
One issue to consider is, after that long 'in crate' whether the digital dash which runs the injection system is working. If not, nice 'wall hanger' and you best have a friend across the pond who may -- or may not -- have a replacement system.
Which dealer, by the way? Might be worth taking a look, assuming the beast is healthy. Dave

It is the second version (update?) of the first Tesi. I need to get photo's of it. They wanted to ebay it, but really just want to get it to a home where it will be appreciated. Now, it just sits under a cover in the storage room.
It does have about 400 miles on it, and was last ridden four years ago.
It is at AJ's BMW up in Gill, Mass.

Ask for Alan. VERY good people.

Thank you. Nice people. Just talked to them. Sounds like the first version, not the second or updated (851 rather than 906, original suspension, slightly different paint, a 1 D not a 1 Dsr. Dave

Tesi
If you wanted a just a collectable, a crated bike has a certain value, but if you want to have a piece to ride and enjoy such as the Tesi be prepared after the purchase you will need to remove the engine from the machine to replace the belts, my guess is after break in you might have to do it again, cam seals that sit around that long may leak. My guess is the machine is worth in the30K range. Great piece Good Luck

Okay, let's step back a bit. First, it isn't new or like new out of the crate. I spoke to the dealer, it is an ex-customer bike with miles on it. Nice condition, but it is the very first series of Tesi, which had the less-functional and harder to maintain front suspension, replaced in the 1Dsr version with the Ohlins and completely reworked internals on the hub steering itself. So, if one wants to ride and collect, the least desirable of the Tesi 1 series. (The most desirable, IMHO, would be the ES or EF, built in the smallest number and the best 'sorted' of the original Tesi's.)
And what is a good 1Dsr worth. I know of one in excellent condition in the hands of a dealer who knows value and isn't shy about asking 'market.' The ask is $24,500, not $30,000.
Dave

No, he just said the ask is $40,000. Not even close! Dave
