Another Good Sign from the New Bimota

My Tesi 3D was delivered sans manual. Now while I am fairly decent at figuring out the Italian way of building a motorcycle and the controls, and figured out that the small button on the back of the throttle assembly was the cold start device for the fuel injection and that the interlock would not allow the engine to start without pulling in the clutch, figuring out how to set the very nice, multi-function display to reset and adjust, or what some of the symbols on the multiple screens meant (fortunately, I figured out that, like the MV, you need to use the starter button to page through the display once the engine is running) getting any farther was beyond my age-addled brain. I called Bob at Bimota Spirt, who called the factory, and to my happy surprise, they sent a pdf of the English manual that was being printed and ready to dispatch, along with a handly 'cheat sheet' for the display.

Now, the display itself (now that I read the sheet) is not only easy to work, but is laid out very well, with a very large, and bright 'shift light' separate from the tach and positioned so that you can be looking up at the road and it pops into your field of vision to say, 'shift it now, Luigi' without having to take your eyes off the corner you are trying to hold or the bike ahead of you that you are trying to overtake. But the best thing about this episode is the fact that not only is the new Bimota eager to assist its dealers and customers (they have also been very prompt on supplying a couple of minor parts I needed for my DB5) but the new manual is very well presented, illustrated, and comprehensive. It is also well written with detailed examples of how to adjust the suspension, controls, and perform maintence.

Bravo Bimota. Now if you could only get someone to explain to the new US distributor how to properly market an inherently excellent product with the potential to easily increase sales, the new company should prosper.

Hello, are you listening in New York? Dave
