In 1994, I asked my dealer if I could special order a DB2. I especially liked the paint scheme for the then newly-introduced DB2sr, a fuel injected version with a red/white/purple paint scheme but with grey wheels and frame. I thought the paint scheme looked great, but thought the white wheels and red frame of the standard DB2 would look even better.
At the same time, my dealer was running a Ducati racing effort with an exceptional engine builder/tech, so I asked for the most powerful iteration of the 904 engine that went into the DB2 possible, aimed at street usage rather than so over the edge that idle and reliability would be sacrificed. The result was an engine with big bore kit, big flat sides, cams, head work, and exhaust work with a pair of carbon Termis that look like they were swopped off a two stroke and LOUD!
I have owned this bike from new, selling it off to a well known Ducati maestro who never got around to riding it (too busy with other projects) since I was engaged in a slew of other matters a few years ago and sold it in a moment of weakness. It returned to the fold early this year, and after a ride off with some of my other DBs a week ago, I decided that if I needed one, this is it. Light, powerful, and perhaps a unique color scheme.
I thought this would be a nice "the forum is back on line" post. Enjoy. Dave
