BIMOTA SB8K Santa Monica production and import numbers?

Does anyone know how many BIMOTA SB8K Santa Monica bikes were built?

Does anyone know how many were brought into the USA and/or North America??

Is this model a "numbered" bike; does it have a numbered plaque or badge or no???

thanks for replies

A friend who has one said that only 15 were imported.

The 400 total number seems very very high. My understanding is that when BIMOTA went bankrupt in 2000/2001 right after the release of the SB8R/SB8RS model that they used left over parts to design the first "new" bike under new ownership and that was the SB8K models.

BIMOTA only 150 SB8RS Specials, and had a target goal of only 350 standard SB8R models, and Im not sure that all were actually built.

I know that only a handful of SB8K, and SB8K Gobert Replica bikes were made.

Im thinking that maybe BIMOTA might have made only a few dozen SB8K Santa Monica bikes.

The SB8K models seem to be extremely rare compared to other BIMOTA models.

Thanks for the reply.

FYI.....my BIMOTA Tesi 3D LE is #14..........

my santamonica is frame #65. i was under the impression that the production run was in the region of 50 ish for worldwide market though i have no absolute proof of this. i met the english bloke called chris mayhew who was employed by bimota as their santamonica R and D guy who rode the prototype for miles in the italian hills prior to production. i recall him saying that the production run was very low... and nowhere near 400 as suggested.

i know of no one else in the UK who has one and have never come across any other owner.....except on this forum.
